About Joey

SUMMARY

Joey is an author and activist for the oppressed and unreached with the good news of Jesus.

He laughs when he calls himself a “poet.” He doesn’t have any tattoos, he’s never lived in Portland, he gets embarrassed when his hair is disheveled, and he appreciates accountability to a good strategic plan.

Yet he writes. Well rather, he sings, complains, groans, and prays. And out comes poetry.

Both poetry and Christian mission usher true reality into our reality. They interpret shadows. That’s why Joey writes poetry along the path of serving Jesus in his global mission. The best of both poetry and mission embody genuine love.

The city drips of beauty...and sewage. The noise of the city can only be interpreted in metaphors. Enter the metro and sing—an ode, or a jingle. Sex in the city? It might magnify God and bring equisit joy in the bed of covenant marriage, or it might magnify the self in the bed of so-called autonomy and so-real selfish ambition. Joey writes from the city, in hope of a better city to come.

Love is communal, love is collaborative. So Joey’s gifting and passion is to develop ministries and leaders who collaborate for God’s global mission of love.

He has written four books: At the Table: At the Table: The North American and Latin American Church Partnering for Global Impact (forthcoming); Burning in Babylon (poetry), All Authority/Toda Autoridad (theology/teología), and The Arab Region and Trade Liberalization Policies (economics).

He currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Global Alliance for Church Multiplication (gacx.io).
